Book Blurb:
Can life ever be the same again? The start of a fabulous new series set at Trenwith Estate from bestselling author Rosie Clarke
Hampshire, 1913

Amidst the glitz and glamour of England’s High Society, Sarah Trenwith is more of a wallflower living in the shadow of her beautiful sister Marianne.
But as the war approaches Sarah will have to step out of the place society and her family have assigned her if she’s to do her part and claim the love she always dreamed of from afar.
As heir to Lord Pelham’s estate, Troy is not expected to join the army, but he’s determined to do his part. Yet the war exacts a toll that he never anticipated and the future he once imagined with his one true love seems forever from his grasp.
After the trials and tribulations of war, can two star crossed lovers finally find each other and true happiness?

My Review:
This book takes place during the WW1 era, which is one of my favorite historical fiction eras. The author, Rosie Clarke, has multiple historical fiction books, so there are so many to choose from, just look at her goodreads!
Sarah is very determined, smart, and is ready to break societal norms. I felt that it was easy to connect with her, and become engaged with her story. The period itself was well researched, and the settings that we find the characters in are realistic and added to the story itself.
I love a good historical fiction that I get lost in the setting and time. The worst thing about historical fiction is when I am second-guessing the research of the author. There was not one second that I found myself questioning this book’s setting. This really helped me get lost in the narrative and the storyline.
This book reminded me of Downton Abbey, which I loveddd that show. Both the book and the show had a wide range of characters. As both have characters of a higher class you get very different viewpoints from some characters being down-to-earth and others being, well, the opposite of that. The characters all added a breadth that the book definitely needed and really made reading it so much more fun.
If you need a historical fiction book, and love the WW1 time period then this book may just be for you! Also, don’t forget to click on the Goodreads link above to look at all the other books from this author!
